BYD Chef's Training report
A typically cold weekend was thoroughly enjoyed by some keen young drivers at Moreton Morrell College in Wawickshire took place on 15/16 March 2025. Sara Howe and Mike Hodgson provided some very constructive training. Lily French had the opportunity to drive both her old pony, Bobby, and her youngster, Rodney.
Sara gave us all a masterclass on long reining a reluctant youngster showing some
great results.
Lily's younger brother Jack is building a super bond with Barney and together they had a great time.
Flo Lloyd, still on a high from passing her exams, brought
out a lovely Fell stallion, Geronimo.

Jamie Hordern used this opportunity to bring two ponies. Barney is on form for heading to the Indoor Championships with just a little
tweaking needed. A quick change of shafts and out came his new pony Hotse. This is the pony that he picked up in Europe on the way home from last summer's European Championships!
Henry Hyde Chambers is another with a new turnout for this year. He is now driving Phoebe Matthews's pony Woody.
Phoebe was able to join us for one of Henry's sessions and give
him some pointers. They are heading for the Indoor Championships.
Newcomer, Theo Charnley, enjoyed his training with the lovely RSPCA George. George has only just been broken to harness but didn't put a foot wrong all weekend.
Theo Charnley with George Mary Jane and Frank Campbell made the most of an opportunity for some extra training, both bringing two equines. The children
enjoyed watching MJ's pony pair in action and also Frank's horses.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of the turnouts progression over the summer and the BYD's are going to be
worth watching at events as the combinations grow in experience and knowledge.
Next up is Easter Camp at the Unicorn Trust over the Easter bank holiday weekend - 17th - 21st April. Places can be booked through Members Login on the British Carriagedriving website.
