John Bates

John and Bates Sound have been involved with our sport for over 40 years, having started at the original driving trials at Osberton in 1978. They then went on to provide the public address service at a number of other driving trials around the country, including numerous National Championships.

John always went ‘above and beyond’ to provide the very best service, and he and wife Sarah would often be seen working long into the evening at events to prepare for the following day’s competition; in addition Sarah became a very useful member of the commentating team at events.

John was also very generous in his support of our international competitors by loaning radios to help with the team communication at World Championships.

John will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Sarah at this sad time.
