Danethorpe Equestrian Ground ODE30 May 2021
Report by David Wagstaff-Myers
On Sunday 30th May the sunshine heralded the first A1 Events Ltd one day event.
Humans and equines enjoyed the opportunity to face new challenges of working out of doors or seeing water for the first time.
The relaxed friendly atmosphere and the format of repeating obstacles twice, meant that the spooky water, sunshine and shadows became second nature and the day finished for some with boxes definitely ticked.
Vicky Sandall and her pony took well to competing outside.
Wendy Stevens' little pony won the dressage phase and fought hard for second overall place.
Marion Lovelace made a successful return to competitive driving.
Lucy Foster's pony took a dislike to an inside obstacle (outside) the first time round, but enjoyed his second attempt.
Mike Charlesworth participated with his usual enthusiasm and had a flying obstacle round.
Lyn Chorlton achieved the only double clear of the day and she and Bernie are making a formidable pair - onwards and upwards after Thorsbey.
Joceline Smith and her pony enjoyed the sunshine.
Joanne Gadsbyís horse didn't like the look of the water the first time through, but dived in with enthusiasm for the second time round.
Sue Martís last minute substitute pony, came out of the field unprepared, but showed off its paces for all to admire.
Angela Flannagan's two youngsters also enjoyed the water on the second visit and wiped many seconds from their previous time.
The next event in the A1 Events diary is Rossington Hall on 20 June, followed by the 2DE at Frickley Hall (3rd-4th July).
