New decade, new season - with so much to look forward to as Midlands Carriagedriving gears up for the months ahead with fabulous venues and friendly hospitality.

2019 featured two brand new venues, Locko Park and Frickley Park, and both are back on the calendar with the latter being run as a joint venture with North Eastern Driving Trials Ltd (NEDTL).

Established popular venues Thoresby Hall and Onley Grounds are also on the list while the season opens at Anslow, near Tutbury, with a practice day - dressage, cones and obstacles - on Saturday 11 April, followed by a one-day event on the Sunday.

Thoresby Hall (16 and 17 May) provides an ideal prep run for national competitors heading to Hopetoun and offers scope to showcase driving trials to the many members of the public who visit the lovely park situated south of Worksop.

Next on the agenda, 6 and 7 June, is Locko Park, east of Derby, where dressage takes place in front of the house and the marathon runs alongside the beautiful lake.

In July Midlands will link up with NEDTL to host Frickley Park from 4 to 5 July. The main feature of this location is the huge water splash while the lovely house forms a backdrop to the dressage arena.

Early August sees the first of two visits to Onley Grounds, the former is a Regional event and also hosts the British Young Drivers’ National Championship while the latter, during the first weekend of September, is host to the club’s own championships.

All competitions bar Anslow are two-day events with classes from Novice to Horse Fours plus a Short Format option (dressage, cones and shortened marathon).
