Yard talk / Masterclass
Carriage driver Wilf Bowman-Ripley stars in a programme, specially commissioned by Horse and Country TV, on Monday 28th October at 9pm (Sky channel 280). The subject of the broadcast is a Yard Talk and Masterclass. As a past World Champion, experienced competitor and a Level 3 UKCC coach, Wilf has the ideal credentials to give advice to aspiring drivers looking to improve their individual performances. During the Yard Talk, Wilf discusses the horses he has in training and gives an insight into the his “backroom” team and grooms who are also interviewed to obtain a balanced perspective. Wilf hopes they all said nice things about him! In the Masterclass, Wilf takes a single turnout and looks at ways to improve performance in an obstacle. He walks an obstacle and discusses the various alternative routes to show the relative merit of each. He compares these to establish which is the best option and gives tips on how to drive the obstacle to achieve the fastest possible time. Wilf hopes this programme will help promote the wonderful sport of carriage driving to a wider audience so please share this information.
