Individual entry

Owen Pilling

A newcomer to Team GBR, Owen has been driving for 7 years. He has always been horsey since the age of 11 and his interest in horse driving trials began through his wife Janet, who started carriage driving back in 2000 and now competes successfully at advanced level. Owen accompanied and supported her and began to back step for her. Then, in 2003 he was a backstepper for Boyd Exell for 2 ? seasons. After that he began driving his own horses with instruction from Andrew May. He began with a single horse and competed for three seasons before moving on to drive a pair.

These days most of his training is through his wife Janet, with polishing from Andrew May and Boyd Exell. His aspiration, from day one, has always been to learn how to successfully compete a pair of horses at the highest level.

Owen has competed at International competitions in Saumur in 2010 and at Royal Windsor in 2011. Owen's horses are: Typhoon (Tango) 11, Unesco (Jed) 10, and Zenno 7. His groom at Conty will be Stuart Ritchie.
