Horse Passport Regulations 2009 in England

Although the parliamentary process for domestic regulations will be slightly delayed, the intention is that the Horse Passports Regulations 2009 will come into force in early August. Once they have been laid in Parliament they will be available on the DEFRA website.

It?s important for all to remember that, even though the domestic legislation will be delayed, the Commission Regulation will still apply from 1 July 2009 and that, after that date, the changes detailed in that document shall apply.

This means that no passport applications will be accepted by UK Passport Issuing Organisation unless the horse is microchipped.
