Kuster BEF Groom Award returns
10 November 2007

The prestigious Kuster BEF Groom Award returns for a fifth year ? the best grooms in the country will battle it out once again ? this year for a holiday of their choice.

The award, once again kindly sponsored by Frank Kuster, has gone from strength to strength over the last four years, attracting a wide range of grooms from all spheres of the equestrian industry including top flight competition, riding schools and welfare yards.

This year the fantastic first prize is ?1000 of holiday vouchers, plus the Smash Hit Bronze Trophy which the winner will get to keep for a year. The Runners-up will not go away empty handed either with a second prize of ?300 and third prize of ?200.

New for 2007 there will also be ?The Newcomer Award? to recognise the growing number of nominations for grooms who are new to the industry but already show exceptional dedication and commitment. This category will be open to any groom who has worked in the equestrian industry for a maximum of three years but has shown the potential to be a super groom! The winner of this award will win a unique print by artist Tim Nathan.

The winner of the main award and the newcomer award will be presented with their prizes at Olympia, the London International Horse Show during the evening performance on the 19th December. Both winners and their guests will be treated to an evening of hospitality at the show.

Ten finalists and their guests will be invited to attend the final judging day, including a champagne lunch, where they will be interviewed by our two judges, race horse trainer Richard Pitman and international dressage rider Sandy Phillips.

Entry is easy; grooms can nominate themselves or they can be nominated by an employer, owner or friend. A Nomination form is available to download (see below) or by send an SAE to the British Equestrian Federation (details below). The form asks for details of why you believe the nominee deserves the award and for an example of a situation where the groom has shown that they deserve to win this prestigious title.

The competition is open to all grooms whether from a local riding school or Olympic yard and entries from those who have been nominated in previous years are very much encouraged.

Entries to be sent to: Kuster BEF Groom Award 2007, British Equestrian Federation, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2RH. Alternatively they can be emailed to info@bef.co.uk.

Entries close 26th November.
