FEI World Cup Driving - 2006/7 season begins
29 September 2006

The 2006/2007 FEI World Cup? Driving season is set to begin on 26 October in Hannover (GER).

In the 2005/2006 a new system was introduced with regards to the FEI World Cup ? Driving Final, whereby all qualified drivers start from scratch and in essence have to battle it out thus adding to the suspense and atmosphere and providing for top level sport. This new system has been unanimously accepted and endorsed and will apply to the 2006/2007 season.

The 2006/2007 season saw an increase in the number of outdoor qualifying events, although the number of competitions that count to the Driver?s points total remains the same at four. Below you will find the 2006/2007 FEI World Cup? Driving Calendar.

Since none of the German drivers have qualified to compete in the sixth season of the FEI World Cup Driving, the organising committee of the first leg in Hannover on 27 and 28 October has invited two wild card drivers.

The ever-popular indoor specialist Michael Freund, who said farewell to the public in Aachen this summer, will start his ?indoor-farewell tour? in Hannover. Freund?s loyal team mate and bronze medallist in Aachen Christoph Sandmann received the second wild card.

The first competition will have an exciting start, since Freund?s strongest indoor opponent and World Cup title defender IJsbrand Chardon will also compete in Hannover. The competitor?s list will be completed with Sweden?s Tomas Eriksson and the Hungarian trio Laszlo Juhasz, Attila Bardos and Jozsef Dobrovitz.
