Carriage Driving Sports Group
for Drivers with Disabilities

The Unicorn centre, Stow-on-the-Wold was the venue for the recent training session organised by the Carriage Driving Sports Group for drivers with disabilities where fifteen drivers from all over Britain attended two days of intense training.

It was an opportunity for up and coming disabled drivers, able bodied whips and existing drivers to receive top level instruction from International pony team driver Anna Grayston and current pony pair?s national champion and Pony World Championship Team Bronze medallist, Rachel Stevens. Instruction was given in all areas of dressage, obstacle and cone driving as well as ground work.

The two days of training also provided selectors with the opportunity to work closely with drivers up for selection for the FEI Para Equestrian Single and Pairs World Championships which this year is being held in Hellendoorn, Holland in September.

Great Britain has remained at the top of its sport having retained Team Silver at the last three World Championships and individuals returning with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. All drivers are self funded and rely solely on the support of family and friends and training expenses and the cost of sending a team to the championships rely on fund raising and donations to the sports group.
