South African trip for Disabled Drivers
25 May

Carole Whittam is a Volunteer Companion Whip/Ab Whip with the 'Kipling County Driving for the Disabled Group', West Sussex.

She spent about 20 years in South Africa and so many people have said to her that they would love to go to Africa, but don't want to go it alone, that she has offered to take a group.

Her Partner's Company, 'Action Link 23 Ltd' have wide experience of action based corporate entertainment, so they are looking for twelve people to holiday in South Africa in November to act as 'Guinea Pigs' for subsequent regular holidays for the disabled.

On this 'Test Run' they can only cater for two wheelchair users, and they must not be totally wheelchair reliant - (i.e. the wheelchair will be folded away when they are in the vehicle.) Individuals must be accompanied by their own 'carers' if needed.

Itinerary:-

On landing at Johannesburg airport, you take a 3hr drive to a Northern Province bush lodge, specifically set up for disabled travellers. The lodge hosts bush drives offering plenty of 'Plains' game (zebra, wildebeest (gnu!), giraffe, duiker etc. The lodge also has excellent bird life and wheelchair friendly pathways within the camp area. There is a swimming pool, tennis court, golf driving range, plus a game viewing hide at a water-hole, and hiking trails.

Carole will be hiring vehicles to transport everyone between venues and for local visits. Rest days will be built in as required.

For the second part of the trip you will move to the spectacular scenery of the Drakensberg Mountains area, where, amongst other activities you may even do some Gold Prospecting!

The holiday will finish on a hight; a visit to Kruger National Park and the chance to tick off the 'Big Five'! - Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino and Buffalo.'

The trip will cost ?2,150 p/p including Flights. Individuals will be required to arrange acceptable Travel Insurance.
