Hopetoun is all set to go in 2002
The National Horse Driving Trials at Hopetoun House promise to be better than ever.

Like many other National Driving Trials venues, hard work behind the scenes at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh continues apace to ensure that next year's event builds upon the great success of the inaugural event in 2000.

Re-turfing of the water obstacle was completed early this year and with access to the site re-established following the lifting of foot & mouth restrictions, efforts are under way to create a new, purpose built dressage arena.

An additional obstacle is planned which, when complete, will bring an interesting crossing of the fishing ponds at the top of the deer park into the marathon course ! Many thanks to Ian Gilbert for sending us these photographs of work in progress on the dressage arena.

Opportunities are still available for sponsors to join the event organisers, the Scottish Carriage Driving Association in putting on what is fast becoming one of the premier National Carriage Driving Events in the U.K. at Hopetoun - surely one of the most beautiful of the many venues we visit.
